Sunday Morning Fog

IMG_4505

I absolutely LOVE fog.  Favorite weather condition hands down.  It is a rarity to have a really foggy day around Minnesota, so of course I had to go play.  Thank goodness Christine is always up for it (even when I make early morning phone calls to get her out of bed).

The air was warm and heavy, the ground wet from rain, and ice and snow mixed in with the last of the fall leaves.  What a breathtaking transition of seasons.  It was truly amazing!

Facing Fears

I certainly didn't think I would be posting this photo on the blog for the world to see; a photography challenge from a class I just completed in which we were asked to capture a portrait of our deepest fears.  But I set out to capture a weekly image and there is no doubt that facing my fears was a continuous theme of the last week. It is not all pretty.  Some weeks you need a good cry, sometimes you have to dig up all the big stuff, sometimes you have to curl up and think about all of it and feel that heavy weight on your chest.  But I leave full of gratitude for the challenge, because even though it was hard, giving myself permission to wrestle with my fears and dreams gave me the strength to be honest with myself about what it is that drives me, and what changes are ahead.

Refresh, GET WEIRD

IMG_4383Keeping your cup full as a photographer is a continuous battle.  It is a passion, a need to create, and capturing images is in my bones. But sometimes the things that surround it; the long hours in the car, the planning and emailing, the giving up the weekends, and staying in beds that are not mine, and simply the time away from home, lead to burn out.

So now it is the off season.  The time to rest my feet.  To re-fuel.  That means creating for me, with no other purpose.  It means being silly, putting on purple lipstick, and blasting 80s music.  It means connecting with friends, making memories, and filling back up, so LETS DO THIS.

Ps.  Christine closed the morning weirdness with this "flashdance" moment in the shower, UNREAL.
