River Reflections

In a world that seems to be screaming, shouting,

you have got to be loud to get what you want.

Then quick, chase after it, for everything is surely fleeting...

Instead I choose stillness.

To simply listen.

& in that place of silence, I feel all the things that tug on my heart, like the steady pull of a river current.

I am so incredibly thankful for these images by Michelle Gardella.  For her incredible talent and cracked open heart that allows her to see the world the way she does.

I also have so much gratitude for the community of women that helped me go to Connecticut and your beautiful words of love and support.  Light pours out of each and every one of you!

I went to the river to share my story.   But turns out I wasn't there to talk, I was there to listen.  & it is through these images that my own self is being revealed to me.  Today while looking at these images I thought;

she has a sort of quiet power, doesn't she.

The Cabin

The first two days were spent with only my favorite person, no alarms, no computer screens.  The lake, the fireworks, the water.   Follow that up with the best kind of community and games of whiffle ball.  When you're filling up on great food and even greater conversation, and there is no denying it;

In the middle of summer there is no place more sacred then the cabin.

Bridal Showers

I have spent a lot of this month trying very hard to embrace rain.  It has shown up in the wedding I was photographing, an engagement the next week, and again it made an appearance at my bridal shower this weekend in Duluth. But as me and my girlfriends stood watching this storm come in from the shoreline there was nothing we could do but just full belly laugh!

“We lit a fire under ourselves when we got to talking…and if it weren’t for that, we’d still be sitting at home; floating, and not swimming.” – Our Wild Abandon

Just stumbled across this quote today and it hit the mark.  This weekend reminded me that there is something so sacred about gathering with all the wonderful woman in my life, and this quote spoke a truth.  When we are together a spark is lit, and we all remind each other that life is meant to be fully lived.  Even if that means dancing in a thunderstorm!
