My personal work this winter has centered around photographing makers and artists.
Mostly because I find the creative energy that stirs when women and artists gather healing.
And as I sat around the table sharing slow conversation with Katie and her sister, I heard words that have been on my heart said back to me. THIS IS PHYSICAL WORK. Photography, pottery, calligraphy, cooking, gardening, dancing, running, whatever it is. It is an action, a service, a giving of oneself to the work.
And that is what this is about. Not photographing the finished pieces, but instead the process, the energy, and the artist's relationship with their art.
