Aubrey

I love what I do and am so grateful for the beautiful weddings I get to witness and photograph.  Because I have a day job as well, I have been able to create a wedding photography business as close to a dream job as you can get.  I am filled with gratitude constantly for what it has become.

It also, sometimes, still has that job part attached; the part that means requirements and expectations, answering emails and managing my schedule.  The not so glamorous side of any work.

As a creative, being able to listen and create the art I feel called to is the center I am always trying to find.  Lately I have found the courage to say yes and chase every creative pulse that stirs.  It has brought me to a pottery wheel, to inviting mothers and their babies into my home, photographing  families everyday.  None of which helps pay the bills, but through simply creating from the heart I am centering in on what makes me feel most alive.

And this.  A woman and artist, pouring her energy and light into her craft.  These images feel like both our hearts cracked open.    A powerful and brave statement of this is what I am here to do.  Thank you Aubrey for sharing that space.

The Holt Family | Storytelling Session

I have been dipping my toes in family photography these last couple of weeks with little expectations except a chance to explore storytelling photography outside of weddings.   I knew I still wanted these sessions to be soaked in the same raw and honest imagery that shows the love and beauty in the ordinary moments.   And while I had no idea what to expect entering the home of a family of five I had never met, I received the warmest welcome and complete freedom to capture them just as they are.

Ingrid, Nathan, Elijah, Mimi, and baby Isaac.  Thank you so much for welcoming me into your home.

Laura & Jerik | The Bachelor Farmer Wedding

This year I decided instead of trying to fill up every weekend I was going to focus on finding ten couples I truly connected with.  And while I did not know Laura and Jerik before they reached out, but I am pretty sure I answered her first email by saying "well I adore you".   It was confirmed even further when I met them for coffee and learned the details of their story; two souls who were not necessarily looking for each other, but once their hearts found the other immediately knew they found their counterpart.  It is my hope that these images capture even a glimpse into that powerful connection they share.
